Picture

Greetings! My name is Beba Cibralic (pronounced beh-bah tsi-bra-lich). I hail from Liverpool, Australia (where I grew up) and Sanski Most, Bosnia (where I was born).

I'm currently a Visiting Scholar at the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence, Cambridge University. Starting in Fall 2024, I'll be a researcher at RAND, focusing on AI governance.

I work on philosophy of AI, social and political philosophy, and ethics. With James Mattingly, I am the co-author of Machine Agency (MIT Press, 2025).

I have worked on AI ethics in industry, as Responsible AI Lead at JPMorgan Chase & Co, and have contributed to AI policy through projects with the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT) and the Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET).

I received my Ph.D. in philosophy from Georgetown University, my MA in China Studies from Peking University, where I studied as a Yenching Scholar, and my undergraduate degree in philosophy and political science from Wellesley College.
